A report is what the research agent produces, and every value in it carries its evidence level. Credits reflect what the work costs us to run. A thorough agent report makes many more calls than a single lookup, and charging both the same would mean either overcharging the light user or capping the heavy one without saying so.
Frequently asked
Why is the free plan three reports total rather than three a month? Because a renewing free plan is a slow leak with no end, and because three reports is enough to answer the question you actually have, which is whether the citations are real. If they are, the decision is easy. If they are not, we would rather you found out in week one.
Is this cheaper than Granta? Different tool, different job. Granta Selector is a mature selection environment with a curated engineering dataset and a training requirement. We are faster in the phase before you know what you are looking for, we cite open computational sources, and we produce a report you can send to somebody. If you have Granta and it does what you need, keep it.
What happens if I run out of credits? Nothing breaks. The knowledge base stays open, reports you have already generated stay available, and you can top up or wait for the reset.
Do you have the data for my materials? Possibly not. Coverage is strong for inorganic crystalline materials and absent for polymers, composites, coatings and anything formulated. The full picture is here, written before you pay rather than after.
Can I get a refund? Yes, first month, no argument. The failure mode we care about is somebody paying for coverage we do not have, and the fix for that is a fast refund and a clearer coverage page.
