Phosphorus is a chemical element with the symbol P and atomic number 15. Elemental phosphorus exists in two major forms, white phosphorus and red phosphorus, but because it is highly reactive, phosphorus is never found as a free element on Earth.

Solid Phosphorus adopts a Simple Triclinic arrangement, in the Triclinic system — axes a ≠ b ≠ c, angles α ≠ β ≠ γ ≠ 90°. Symmetry controls the anisotropy of stiffness and thermal expansion, and the available slip systems set how far the metal deforms before it fractures.
