PEEK
Semi-crystalline high-performance polymer: 250 °C continuous service, superb chemical resistance, sterilizable.
Typical properties
Published ranges for the usual condition. Heat treatment, section size and product form move these numbers — a starting point for a search, not design allowables.
Bars show where this material sits against every other entry in the library that quotes the same property; strength scales are logarithmic.
Where it sits in the field
Where it is used
Implants, aerospace brackets, seals, semiconductor ware, oil & gas.
Processing and joining
Injection molding/machining (stock shapes); high processing temps (~400 °C); expensive.
Class behaviour
PEEK is a polymers & elastomers material: covalent chains with secondary (van der waals/h-bond) interactions; amorphous or semi-crystalline.
That bonding is what produces the class-level trade-off you inherit here — low density, low cost, easy mass production, set against low stiffness/strength vs. metals; creep under load.
